As many of you may know on September 15, Malden Police notified us that a coach at Malden Recreation Basketball had been arrested. Police informed us the arrest took place off campus and was executed pursuant to a federal warrant issued in Detroit, Michigan.
Based on the seriousness of the allegations,he was terminated by Malden Recreation Department immediately, and he no longer has access to all Malden Recreation facilities/programs.
We will fully cooperate with federal, state and local officials in their investigation of this matter as needed, and they will continue to keep us informed. At this time, we have no indication that the charges involved the Malden Recreation Department in any way. Since this is an open investigation, we cannot comment further on this case.
We are aware of the impact this news may have on our community, and we thank you for your continued support for our children. The safety of our children and staff is always our highest priority.
