MACDONALD STADIUM |
Located in the heart of the Edgeworth section of Malden at the intersection of Pearl and Centre Streets, Macdonald Stadium is one of Malden’s finest recreational facilities. The recently renovated Stadium boasts a state-of-the-art artificially turfed field with multi-sports markers and has a rubberized, regulation size running track, floodlights and a high-tech scoreboard.
Activities
Macdonald Stadium is the home field of the Malden High School athletic teams as well as Malden youth sports such as Malden Youth Lacrosse, Soccer and Malden Pop Warner Football. The Stadium is used virtually year-round by a variety of both non-profit and for-profit organizations such as Relay for Life, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and outside of Malden youth and adult sports organizations.
Community
Macdonald Stadium is overseen by the Stadium and Athletic Field Commission which is comprised of residents and City officials. In 1972 the former “Pearl Street Stadium” was renamed and dedicated to legendary Malden High School Football Coach John G. “Jack” Macdonald, father of United States Congressman Torbet Macdonald and grandfather of Laurie Macdonald who currently sits on the Stadium Commission. The Stadium is open to the public for various activities such as walking the track and many programs run by our Recreation Department.
