Forestdale Park(Alex Gentile Memorial Park)
Overview

Forestdale Park is adjacent to the Forestdale School and features a baseball field and playground.

In April of 2019, the park was renamed after Alex Gentile.

Mayor Gary Christenson and Ward 5 City Councillor Barbara Murphy welcomed nearly 100 family and friends for the dedication of the Alex Gentile Memorial Park at the Forestdale School. Although Alex sadly passed away in June of 2018 at age 21 his life continues to be celebrated in our community. A Malden High School graduate, Alex had an infectious personality and was a member of the Malden Challenger Baseball League as well as a member of the Special Olympics. He truly loved the sport of baseball and was well known for being the first one to arrive for each game and the last one to leave.Mayor Christenson and Councillor Murphy agreed that it was fitting to dedicate the Forestdale Park in honor of Alex, who spent much of his time playing there. Together they petitioned the Public Works Department for permission to rename the park in Alex’s honor and the vote in support was unanimous. On a cool and rainy Sunday afternoon, the sun came out just in time for the ceremony as all in attendance celebrated Alex ensuring that his legacy lives on.
